Why is BTS on hiatus?
As all the members continue to grow older, changes will surely be seen in all of the band.
I’m sure everyone’s heard about BTS’s hiatus, but what is it really about?
BTS, or the ‘BangTan Boys’ have been all over social media because of their hiatus, which would be one of their longest breaks.
You may ask what their break is for? Well, it’s for South Korea’s military mandation. In South Korea, all able bodied men from ages 18-28 are required to do two years of military work. The boy band was granted a two year extension, but that extension is ending for their eldest member, Jin. Jin will be turning thirty in December, so he has to start his work sooner than expected.
After their free concert “Yet to Come in Busan” , BTS told fans details about what would happen. This shocked many fans because their world tour was canceled in 2020 due to covid, so fans expected a new tour to be rescheduled. . This was not the case due to their extended hiatus. However, they will be coming back in 2025, so it’s not permanent.
The reason why the band are not having a granted exemption at all is because they’re not olympic players, classical or traditional artists, ordancers who have won olympic medals. As many fans were hoping for an exemption, a commissioner from the military administration said that it would be desirable for each member to do their mandatory work.
In June, we saw that BTS took a break from being a group so they could be able to do their solo activities. Because of this break, fans were expecting information about the boy group. While Jin is going to be off to the military soon, his younger colleagues will continue to work on their solo careers. Since all of the members won’t be together, they would like to focus on their solo work. Jungkook is the youngest member, so he’ll be able to work on his solo career before getting his military service done.
As all the members continue to grow older, changes will surely be seen in all of the band. In the end, fans are content with what BTS is doing and how they are finishing up their service.
