Twice is a popular k-pop group, with one member that sticks out the most from the other eight.  But first, what is Twice? 

      Twice is a group that  mainly consists of bubblegum pop and dance pop, so it’s no surprise that POP! was bubblegum pop. POP! is a single that a member, Nayeon, made. Anyways, Bubblegum-pop is basically a genre with an upbeat aesthetic that is usually marketed towards kids and teens. This is mainly found in its songs, with many bubblegum songs being one hit wonders. Clearly, Twice is changing that. Dance-pop is usually mixed in with K-pop and J-pop, so that’s also why they can market themselves as these two categories.   

     Twice first rose up when ‘Like Ooh-Ahh’ blew up. My personal favorite song from the girl group is ‘The Feels’. This song was their first English-only single out of the six years they’d been performing. Now, they’ve released multiple English-only songs. ‘The Feels’ also blew up on social media in 2021, and it’s still thriving to this day. 

     Nayeon is a member of Twice, but many people think that she is the leader of the group. Many people would think that because of how much she has blown up from her solo works. One of her most popular songs that came out on June 24, 2022 was “POP!’. This song currently has 3.7 million likes on Youtube, and 154 million views. Although twenty of Twice’s music videos have reached up to 100 million views, this is the first time a member has ever gotten to that point by themselves. 

    The pop star was born in Seoul, South Korea, and she’s always been in the film career. Although her mother never wanted Nayeon to be in that profession, she still went to an audition. Clearly, that audition has made her into the popular singer she is now.

    Im Na-yeon, known as Nayeon, first put herself out to the world when she secretly went to the JYP entertainment audition in 2010. After being in the reality TV show Sixteen she was able to make the lineup for Twice. In October 2015, she finally made her grand debut as a member of Twice. Now, she’s the lead vocalist for the group. On May 19th, Nayeon also announced that she will make her own solo debut on June 24th. 

     Nayeon is the eldest member of the entire group, so this is another reason why many think that she’s the leader. Jihyo is the leader, but Nayeon acts like a big sister to all of the younger members. 

     Nayeon is a great artist and a great person in general. She helps out and treats her fans out with respect, which is fantastic!
