Vivienne Westwood Fashion History
Vivienne Westwood is a British fashion designer who started to become popular in the 1970s and 1980s. She is known for her punk and new wave designs with a mix of different elements.
Westwood began her career in the 1970s working with her partner (then) Malcolm Mclaren. Together they opened a boutique called Let it Rock, which later became known as Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die, and Sex.
These shops were associated with the punk movement; Vivienne Westwood and Malcom Mclaren sold clothing and accessories that reflected the punk aesthetic. Including leather jackets, safety pin earrings, and T-shirts with slogans.
In the 1980s, Westwood began to develop her own type of style including using elements of punk, new wave, and etc. She started to show her own collections in London, Paris, and Milan and she quickly became popular.
Westwood creations were worn by Princess Diana and Madonna. She continued to design and present her collections and she has also been an advocate for environmental and political causes.
She is considered one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century, and her designs are still strongly popular to this day.
