Steve Lacy
Steve Thomas Lacy-Moya, as known as Steve Lacy, is an singer-songwriter, musician, and producer. He was born on May 23, 1998, in Compton, California. A son of an African-American mother and Filipino father.
Lacy began playing music at a young age starting with a guitar and later moved on to bass, drums then keyboard. He rose to fame as a member of the R&B band The Internet; where he played guitar and produced music. He also contributed to the album “DAMN” by Kendrick Lamar.
Lacy’s solo career started in 2017, his project called “Steve Lacy’s Demo”. This showed his unique style combining funk, R&B, and indie rock. He continued to release solo music, “Apollo XXI”, “The Lo-Fis”, and recently “Gemini rights.”
Lacy was also known for his DIY music making by producing and recording most of his music on his iPhone, which I think is pretty clever. Collaborated with tons of artists including Solange, J. Cole, Knowles, and etc.
Recently became more popular after his new album “Gemini rights”, “Bad Habits” being on the top. Throughout his career, Lacy still continues to have an impact on the music industry, with his different methods, approach to music production and his ability to blend various genres together.
