As currently being the seventh track on today’s most discussed album, Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Logical’ takes the top spot on my ranking. However, it’s no surprise that the seventh track is my favorite, being that it’s usually the seventh track that gets me more addicted than I already was to an album. Nonetheless, it’s the lyrics that get me attached.
And I fell for you like water
Falls from the February sky
But now the current’s stronger
No, I couldn’t get out if I tried
But you convinced me, baby
It was all in my mind
In my understanding, when she says “falls from the February sky”, February brings thoughts of Valentine’s day, but here, it’s about thinking about the person you fell out of love with, trapped in the past, and there’s no way to get out, no matter how hard you try.
The sky is green, the grass is red
And you mean all those words you said
I’m sure that girl is really your friend
Our problems are all solvable
Cause loving you is loving every-
Sweet nothings is all he told her and that’s now all she knows, so Olivia expresses “I’ll believe your sweetest lies cause that’s all that’s left of what we had.” Later in the song, she sings about how her head emerged from the clouds and she saw him for what he was.
Argument you held over my head
Brought up the girls you could have instead
Said I was too young, I was too soft
Can’t take a joke can’t get you off
This specific part of the song really speaks to me because Olivia is conveying that she was called too soft because she wasn’t tolerating a ‘joke’ that was aimed towards her. Nowadays, if you make a joke that was specifically aimed at a female and she doesn’t laugh, she’s often called uptight and insecure while the man is portrayed as the victim.
Cause if rain don’t pour and sun don’t shine
Then change in you is possible

Love is never logical
I know I’m half responsible
And that makes me feel horrible

I know I could’ve stopped it all
God, why didn’t I stop it all?
If the most unimaginable thing happens, can the simplest things come true as well? It’s not necessarily your fault if something goes wrong in the relationship, or life in general but you can control your feelings about it afterwards.
You can control your outcome.
