*Involves a few Spoilers
Hey fellow readers! Today, I have another review.
I know I’m late to the party, but a new Spider-Man video game came out just a few weeks ago. I don’t have a PlayStation 5 so I couldn’t play it, but I watched a full walkthrough on YouTube. It looks AMAZING! So since there have been three games in the Spider-Man franchise, I wanted to do a review and talk about what to expect from the new game (if you haven’t already played or watched it).
If you aren’t really a Spider-Man fan, this video game series takes place in different parts of New York City. It follows the adventures of Peter Parker (a.k.a Spider-Man). In the second game, “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, a new protagonist Miles Morales is introduced and we see his day-to-day life as the second Spider-Man in the game. Those are the first two games of the Spider-Man video game series. Time to go into Spider-Man 2(which is technically the third game in the franchise)..
“Spider-Man 2” revolves mainly around the first and second games. It takes place where Miles and Peter live. What is cool about the new game is that you can switch between Miles and Peter.
I would say this game has a lot of violence with the new villain. So what happens? Peter is starting to recover from losing his aunt (Spider-Man 1) but meets a familiar face: Harry Osborn. Harry was undergoing treatment for his disease, but his father Norman Osborn told the public that he was on a trip to Europe. For Miles, he’s recovering after losing his father (Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales)and finds a new group of friends to hang out with. However, as the game progresses, he meets the villain who killed his father and wants revenge.
This game has a few changes, unlike the other two games. According to the creator of Insomniac Games, “We decided to make the game as photo-realistic as possible.” This means upgrading New York so it looks the same as real life and making the characters match the voice actors. The latter I was a bit disappointed because that meant the original voice actor, Scott Porter, who played Peter’s lifelong friend got swapped out. Scott Porter announced, “With Insomniac Games making Spider-Man 2 as photo-realistic as possible, I will not be able to join due to an age gap between me and my character.” This made me disappointed because, in my opinion, he played the character really well. After hearing who they swapped him out with, I was intrigued to see. When I saw a walkthrough of the gameplay, I really liked Scott’s character even more.
So, what would be my review of this video game series? Well, I have to admit, the visual graphics are spot on. The characters themselves are amazing. The mechanics of the game I love. So it’s a 10/10 for me. Now, I know that many people assume I give 10/10 for everything but that’s because the game/movie/TV show is very good and I would recommend it to practically anyone. So if you have a PS5 or PS4 at home or watch YouTube all the time, I would definitely try this game franchise out. It really kept me on my feet the whole time. Below are some trailers for the franchise if you are interested. I will see you all next time.
