Another prisoner is on the loose in Philadelphia after he escaped from Jefferson Hospital in Center City.
Police have identified the escapee as Richard Renzo, who goes by the alias Richard White. Officers are on high alert as he was caught fleeing down Chestnut Street in the early hours of the morning.
This is the second escaped prisoner within a three month period. Danelo Cavalcante, arrested on a murder charge in 2021, was the first after he killed his ex-girlfriend infront of her two children.
He eventually escaped on August 31st, and was on the run for two weeks until he was captured and re-arrested. For two weeks, the people living in Delco, Chester, and other nearby towns, had no idea if a convicted murderer was roaming around their backyards. It turns out, for most of the time, he was.
Realizing that it only took a couple months for another prisoner to escape in the same area, is frightening. This is especially frightening when we know that Cavalcante was hiding in the prison’s backyard and managed to keep his track clean for weeks.
What more can Philadelphia prisons do to ensure the communities safety when there are now two different escapes in a short period of time? Hopefully, prisons are working on a better system.
