This time around I’ll be proud of what I’ve done;
My worth not determined from how you treat me.
This time around I’ll let my skin absorb sun;
I won’t cater every move to make you happy.
A black cloud in my life is the only role you’ve been;
Even though I’ve played many roles for you.
My breath quickens pace, I’m suffocating in my skin;
Your eyes stare through mine, pitch black swarms my view.
I’ll look back on my life and the darkness you’ve placed;
And wonder why I did not walk away.
Every unneeded obstacle you gave and I faced;
Makes me try even harder in hopes that you’ll stay.
This time around I’ll turn ‘round and lock the door.
This time around I’ll know I’m worth so much more.
