What do innovative hot dogs and calming natural oils have in common? They’re two products created by black entrepreneurs!
The Original Hot Dog Factory and Sabrina’s Natural Oils are two Black-owned businesses in the South Jersey area. These businesses invite diversity, creativity, and inclusivity among consumers and employers, alike. But, these adjectives aren’t just buzzwords, here… they’re a way of life. The owners of these businesses, Lashaun Daniel-Drew and Sabrina Wagstafs, actively promote other companies of color by showcasing fellow entrepreneurs during Black History Month—giving back is part of their DNA!

Sabrina’s Natural Oils – Janah
Sabrina states that the staple of her store is herself, but jokes aside, everything they sell is all homemade and natural. She stresses knowing what is inside her products, so everything in this shop from their body butter to their sage and oils is made by hand. The thriving body wellness business has been in operation for more than 13 years.
Some struggles that the Black-owned business has faced are business loans. “To reinvest in your business, it’s kinda hard. The good thing about us, though, is that we didn’t get any loans. We did it the hard way.” Sabrina says. To be able to persevere is something any entrepreneur or business owner needs. The ability to work hard and stick through everything is something any customer should admire. If you’re ever in need of some authentic body butter for your skin, or some incense to make your home smell comfortable and cozy, stop by Sabrina’s Natural Oils located in the Berlin Farmers Market.
The Original Hot Dog Factory – Nana
Giving back is part of their DNA. From annual book bag drives to a non-profit called Staying the Course and the heartwarming Girls on the Grill initiative, they’ve served over 7000 meals to those in need.
The founder’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those from underrepresented communities, is to stay humble, believe in your goals, and surround yourself with encouraging minds. She urges us to ignore the naysayers, lead with love, and find ways to inspire others – it’s not about the glitz and glamor but relishing the journey and staying positive.
Looking ahead, this visionary is not just about hot dogs; they’re eyeing expansion, aiming to open diverse locations and grow their non-profit. The Original Hot Dog Factory isn’t just a business; it’s a bubbling fountain of positivity, community love, and a hot spot for the best hot dogs in town.
