As anticipation grew, the presidential Election finally came to an end with Donald J. Trump as the favored candidate.  Despite the expectations for Harris to win, Trump won enough swing states to reclaim his presidency by the next morning. 

For some the election result came out as a huge surprise such as how fast the race was called. He had done even better than his previous election in 2020 in both blue and red states. Trump was able to sweep the battleground states and even win the popular vote. This is something a Republican hasn’t done since 1988. 

Moving forward to Donald J. Trump’s victory speech he thanks everyone and promises to fix everything wrong with America, as well as the immigration problem . Republicans feel at ease as Trump promises to protect them and their family as well as every citizen, “I will fight for you, for your family and your future, every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body, I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.” (Donald Trump)

However, after the results were posted, Democrats were devastated. Kamala Harris had planned to be the first woman president, and she had lost, yet Democrats were still given a glimpse of hope thanks to Kamala Harris’ concession speech, “When we lose an election, we accept the results.” This speech was shocking. It had given people hope on Kamala Harris 2028 still being an option. ‘To the young people who are watching, it is OK to feel sad and disappointed, but please know, it’s gonna be OK. On the campaign, I would often say when we fight, we win. But here’s the thing, sometimes the fight takes a while, that doesn’t mean we won’t win. The important thing is don’t ever give up, don’t ever stop trying to make the world a better place, YOU have power.” (Kamala Harris) 

No matter the results of an election, someone is going to be upset by living under a leader you did not support, or simply living under a leader you don’t share the same morals with.  Let’s hope Donald Trump will be able to fulfill the promises he made towards us and every citizen in America.
