*Trigger Warning: hell, death, suicide, addiction, mention of overdosing *
Hello everyone! So, recently, I wanted to share this project that I did in my English class with you. We were told to find 2 songs that match one of the themes from Hamlet and create a poem out of the lyrics. So, I chose the theme of Decay. I thought that it would be fun to pick two Hazbin Hotel songs. First off, I did want to say that this is entirely fictional—it’s not from my standpoint and it’s just a controversial narrative I wrote. Now, allow me to present Poisonous Addiction!
Poisonous Addiction:
This is a brand new start
Every night I’m livin’ like there’s no tomorrow
I made my choice and
I think I deserve some praise
For the way that I am
I shoulda guessed that this would happen
I shoulda known it when I looked in your red, hot eyes
This is my life you’re playing with now
So count your blessings ’cause this is it
I got so good at tellin’ you what you wanna hear
So what if I misbehave
I disassociate, disappear
Surrounded by fire, the passion ignites
A hit of that heaven and hell, a hell of a high
Yeah, I know it’s poison
But I’m addicted to the feeling
And we’re never gonna want this feeling to end
Just concede and give in to your inner demons again
What’s the worst part of this hell?
I can only blame myself
I’m addicted, I’m dependent
Despite having overdosed
I can’t help but swallow
Up your poison
I’m addicted to the sorrow
Full of poison, I’m sick of the poison
I’m fillin’ up my glass but it’s always hollow
And I know I’m raising Cain by every highway in hell
Wish I had something to live for tomorrow
