It’s another Monday morning and your body refuses to get out of bed. You feel nauseous, sick, faint, itchy, and your skin is covered in acne with skin texture—and it’s only the first period of the day. All of these are casual problems for the average teen. Truthfully, all these problems can be solved by one simple solution: a healthy diet.
The word “diet” has been tainted negatively in a societal sense, but it is important. A “ healthy diet” doesn’t always mean eating tasteless food that you don’t enjoy. Sometimes it just means having a balanced diet. A balanced diet consists of minerals, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, etc. But how do teens get these nutrients everyday, with foods they like and in easy recipes to add in their lifestyles? Well on healthline.com, Jillian Kubala suggests some healthy snacks that nutritionally boost your metabolism and better your immune system.
Savory snacks: Bento boxes, deviled eggs, edamame, chickpea, and feta salad. Guacamole, cheese sticks/turkey sticks, and chicken and avocado salad. These snacks will provide you with healthy fats, minerals, vitamins, zinc, and protein for growth.
Sweet snacks: Peanut butter and jelly chia pudding, trail mix, granola bars, protein bars, dark chocolate, yogurt/Greek yogurt parfait, fruit smoothies, grapes and apples. These snacks will provide you with natural sugars, calcium, magnesium, fiber, grain, and it’s safe for kids that need to watch their dairy intake.
Jillian Kubala wrote why teens need to have a healthy diet, but it’s important that teens balance their diet in a healthy way mentally. Social media affects us in many ways, but most negatively, the way we view ourselves physically. Unrealistic beauty standards are pressured on teens, and we may look for these “perfect” results when bettering our diets. Balancing your diet should be for bettering you, being more energized in school, and having overall norshisment. It’s never guaranteed that balancing someone’s diet will change an appearance, and dieting with this mindset is not healthy.
A balanced diet is important for every living being, but especially teens. Teenagers in modern society have a lot of work to achieve both physically and intellectually, which is why they must have the right diet to power action into their work. Incorporating these snacks will benefit teens and help you grow into your environments. Balancing your diet will make you feel better about yourself and motivate you day to day: “Including a variety of healthy snacks in their diet can help keep going between meals while squeezing in a few extra nutrients.” (Jillian Kubala)
