Girls Volleyball finishes .500

The Eastern Girls Volleyball Team finished with a record of 10-10. Like any .500 team, the girls had ups and downs this season.

The team is coached by Thomas Armour who has been coaching for 23 seasons. In Coach Armour’s years his favorite memories include beating Immaculate Heart Academy in 2000 for the programs 100th win and beating Cherokee in 2014 for the program’s 300th win.

Armour described this season as a “roller coaster ride” but seen success in team leadership.

One of the team’s leaders this season was senior, Jen Hoffman. Hoffman spoke on her and the other seniors’ influence on the team saying “Everyone looked up to the seniors, so we controlled the energy in the court. If we were pumped and excited for games, then everyone was.”

Hoffman added that the team had good chemistry on the court which helped them to be successful. Junior Molly     Greenblatt also talked about the strong team chemistry saying “It’s good because we all hangout outside of school and have known each other for a long time.”

Along with Hoffman and Greenblatt, the team was lead by Kara Trinkle, Myyona Boyd, and Ariana David.

As the seniors ended their Eastern Volleyball careers Hoffman looks back on her senior day as one of her best volleyball memories. Another great memory for her was beating their rival, Cherokee, in their home opener last season.

With several strong juniors emerging this year the girls seem to be on track for a bright future and strong season next year.
