Eastern Boys Soccer started the season off 5-1-1 and showed no signs of slowing down. The team is experienced and led by a group of talented seniors, including defender Tanner Koch.

  As a captain and four year starter, Koch is one of the team’s leaders.  “As the captain I try to lead by example, and hope that I can make big plays that can help my team win” said Koch.

  Koch is a lockdown defender and usually guards the other team’s top scorer each game, while also having the ability to go forward and impact the game offensively. Consequently, he already has two goals this season. Tanner’s defense has certainly been up to par as well. “I model my defense after LeBron James. Now my teammates call me LeBron. I guess I see some of his qualities in myself,” Koch said.

     Even with an 11-5-2 record, Koch thinks the team has even more potential than they’ve already shown. “We’re playing really well right now, but I honestly think we can play even better going forward. If we keep winning games, I think we can contend for the state title.”
