Matt Karpousis commits to Skidmore for baseball

Senior Matt Karpousis has had an accomplished baseball career at Eastern and doesn’t plan on settling for anything less during his final season. “My projection for Eastern is a state championship and nothing less. Everything else would be settling for something under our capability,” said Karpousis.

Matt had strong junior season batting .400 and knocking in 35 runs which earned him Second Team All Conference Honors along with a spot on the Carpenter Cup Team. Karpousis also added to his baseball resume with great fieldwork at first base and strong pitching. Matt’s outstanding play earned him a scholarship to continue his baseball career at Skidmore College.

“I chose Skidmore for the good academics and the great education program. They also have the town of Saratoga which is beautiful with lakes, mountains, and race tracks” said Karpousis.

Matt plans to bring positive energy to Skidmore baseball along with a solid skill set made up of pitching, fielding, and hitting—all things he worked hard to master. “It feels great to finally see my hard work pay off and to be accepted into a college that I probably wouldn’t have gotten into without baseball. It’s awesome and hopefully I’ll have a better life because of it,” Karpousis added.

Karpousis has goals to win the Liberty League Conference and eventually go on to win a national title in college. As for now, Matt is focused on succeeding in his final season at Eastern where he wants to achieve a spot on the All South Jersey First Team.

Most of all, Karpousis wants to win and bring a state championship to Eastern before he graduates.
