Sanaa Thorne, freshman, is far more than just the girl who wears silly socks

“I have to admit, she said, “My time management could be better. You would think after playing for this long, I’d have a steady schedule but honestly, I go to practice till 5, come home and finish homework, and take it from there.”

Sanaa Thorne is a freshman. She was always the girl who wore silly socks, as silly as they could get. Some days they would be mitchmatch ketchup or mustard socks up to her knees, neon colors, stripes.

But more than anything, she is the girl who played every single sport.

She started dancing when she was five, cheerleading at nine, and did both of those for about five years. “When I was six, I started playing basketball and soccer. I have also played lacrosse, tennis for a little, softball, swim, and track.” Does she get tired?

“Yes, very,” she said.

How are is she able to finish homework, hang with friends, or spend time with family?

“I have to admit, she said, “My time management could be better. You would think after playing for this long, I’d have a steady schedule but honestly, I go to practice till 5, come home and finish homework, and take it from there.”

Sanaa hopes to take her experience from high school sports and continue to play in college, her dream college would be Duke for basketball. “I’ve always had a natural talent for sports, they just come easy to me, she said, “plus my coaches teach me to go anywhere on the field or court, so I’d consider myself pretty versatile out there.”

“High school sometimes gets really hard with all the homework but you realize how fun it can be when you’re just riding home from practice with those few people who tolerated your presence enough to let you pick the song to play on the AUX, it’s not all hard and competitive, it’s fun.”

There’s no other way Sanaa would rather spend her time than playing the sports she loves.
