Day four of online school
Wow, time flies by when you’re having fun.
It is not the fourth day of “remote learning.” Everyone seems to have figured out how it works now and it is running smoothly.
Many of my friends have been complaining nonstop about the current situation. Most people are talking about their boredom and how they would rather go back to school.
I, on the other hand, realize that I can not get out of this situation, so I might as well make the most of it. And I have been.
Class has been a breeze. It feels great to sleep in an hour. It leaves me feeling much more rested and more ready for the day.
Ending class at 12:15 is great as well. It has left me with much more time in the day to go to work, exercise, spend time with my family, and relax.
The classes themselves have not been very educational and I can feel the absence of a true rigorous education. But that’s ok, I’m enjoying it.
This is easy for me to say as a senior, but many people are not as lucky. This year is one of the most important years for current juniors as they are preparing to begin their college admissions process. With SATs cancelled and not being in school, the process is being hurt.
I also worry about what all this means for our future. The stock market has erased all Trump-era gains. After this is all over, will the market rally and skyrocket? Will the economy recover and unemployment remain low? Or will this virus have a lasting effect on our economy that will take years to recover from?
No one knows what the future holds. The only thing we can do is take the necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
There’s only so much we can do, so I try to not worry about it. I am limiting how much I read the news or Facebook because I already know the virus. I am aware of the steps we need to take to prevent the spread and I follow that. But reading nonstop about new deaths and economic downturns will not help anyone.
Instead, I am cautiously enjoying this little break. I am spending time doing things that I would not normally have time to do and have been very productive.
Take this time to work on yourself. There is no need to worry; just be careful.
