Lee Fierro, actress known for her role in Jaws, has passed away
Lee Fierro, known for her role as Mrs. Kintner in Jaws, has died from complications of the coronavirus. She was 91.
The actress had spent over 40 years as a drama teacher at Island Theatre Workshop in Martha’s Vineyard. Once a student of Fierro’s and now artistic director and board president for Island Theatre Workshop, Kevin Ryan said, “she was a good friend, mentor and a very busy community member when she was in Martha’s Vineyard.”
While living in Martha’s Vineyard she had starred in Jaws, premiering in 1975, and also Jaws: The Revenge in 1987. The iconic scene she is famous for is when she angrily confronts Chief Martin Brody (Roy Schieder) and slaps him, sobbing about her son’s shark induced death.
Fierro had passed at an assisted care facility in Ohio; her family is currently planning a small service in the state. In Martha’s Vineyard a memorial service will also be held.
