The Long Awaited Inauguration
Exactly two weeks after the Capitol Building got breached by hundreds of Trump supporters, the inauguration of Joseph R. Biden was held in front of the building that was invaded.
It was a momentous sight, especially after the January 6th attack and the raging pandemic that has haunted our society for months.
On January 20th, 2021, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States of America.
Since November when Biden was projected to win the 2020 Presidential Election, former president Donald Trump contented the election, calling “election fraud” when there was no evidence of fraud at all.
So, it was refreshing to see the Electoral Colege confirm Biden’s victory and the inauguration that took place.
However, this inauguration was different than any other in history.
With the coronavirus still effecting our country, the guests and family of Biden were required to wear masks and to be tested twice.
Also, the steps of the Capitol overlooked flags placed in the grasses of the National Mall, symbolizing the lives lost during the pandemic.
Overall, the ceremony was very nice.
Country Garth Brooks led a heartfelt rendition of “Amazing Grace” and Jennifer Lopez graced the country with her voice after singing “Your Land.”
Multiple speakers stepped up to the podium, including young poet Amanda Gordon who spoke an inspiring poem and gained national attention.
Of course, an inauguration couldn’t be an inauguration without the main inaugurations.
Kamala Harris officially became vice president, making her the first women to become the position in American history.
Joe Biden was sworn in after and gave a speech of hope. His speech was much needed to lift up the spirits of every citizen in America.
In the audience it was nice to see a few former presidents. Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton along with their wives Michelle, Hillary, and Laura.
Former president Donald Trump was not in attendance.
The inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was long awaited and lived up to expectation.
