The Battles of New Beginnings
So, I guess one could say that I’m still trying to find my way—literally and metaphorically — through Eastern and the American education system.
One bittersweet plane ride and an entire global pandemic later, I stood in the bustling hallways of Eastern. I had finally made it. Countless questions from my friends back in India clouded my head: How are schools in America? What is it like to not have uniforms or travel through the garbage-laden streets of Bangalore?
I was finally about to receive answers
I spent my first year staring into a black screen, deprived of friends or the ability to meet new people. Coming back to school gives me a lot of hope for learning. socializing will also be much better
To be honest, it’s a bit overwhelming coming back to school. Even though I’m a senior, I feel more like a freshman. My first few days were filled with getting lost an embarrassing number of times and continuously trying to introduce myself to new people.
So, I guess one could say that I’m still trying to find my way—literally and metaphorically — through Eastern and the American education system.
Even though I felt extremely exhausted the first few days, I can say, without a doubt, that in-person school definitely triumphs over online school. School has felt more alive and dynamic, and learning seems a lot less overwhelming. Is this because it’s just the beginning of the school year? Will I have fewer headaches?
All in all, I am excited. As a senior, I’m nervous. Life is snowballing towards me faster than I expected. I’m excited, though, because whatever happens next, I’m sure that I will continue to learn, experience, and enjoy.
