iOS 15, Apple’s newest mobile operating system, released on September 20th, 2021.

iOS 15, the latest iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system, introduces a number of quality-of-life features that elevate the iPhone to an even greater potential.

This update introduces SharePlay to FaceTime, which allows you to share your screen, a movie, a song, and other forms of media while on video calls with friends and family. Notifications have been given a sleeker and more compact design. Contact photos have been added to messages and app icons are now larger. Notifications are arranged by priority, with more relevant and urgent notifications near the top.

Text can now be selected on photos through a new feature called “Live Text.” Surprisingly, it can even recognize handwriting. You can also search images through photos.

Safari has been redesigned to feature the tabs and search bar all on the bottom of the screen. Swiping from the bottom switches between tabs. This ease of access feature makes it far more convenient to use Safari with one hand on today’s considerably larger iPhones. Safari now has a customizable startup page so that you can access your most-traveled websites as soon as you open the app.

Apple Maps has a feature where you can hold up your phone and create walking directions by scanning surrounding buildings. New kinds of keys and state IDs have been added to Apple Wallet. Ultra Wideband technology allows you to unlock your car without even taking your phone out of your pocket.

One of the most potent features of this new operating system update is the “Focus” feature. This feature filters notifications based on what you want to focus on. You can customize this feature to tailor to specific apps.

There are also suggested Focus presets for work and sleep. You can make home screen pages with only the apps and widgets that are relevant to a specific Focus. If someone messages you and they are blocked due to your Focus, they will be notified that you cannot be reached.

iOS 15 is packed with features of this nature to improve your experience on your Apple device.
