“30” is Adele’s best album yet
The English pop superstar is back! Adele did not disappoint with her first album in five years. The superstar released her fourth studio album, 30 on November 19th to immediate rave reviews from critics.
Calling this her “most personal album” yet, it definitely shows another side of Adele that we haven’t seen in her previous projects. Adele announced her divorce from Simon Konecki earlier last year, and it’s clear that this album reflects on the emotions she went through during that time. The album showcases Adele’s powerhouse vocals in a brand-new way.
30 opens up with “Strangers by Nature,” a slow track which acts as an introduction to the twelve-track album. “Easy On Me” immediately follows; the song is about no longer finding value in a relationship. In the chorus, Adele sings “go easy on me,” which could be one of two things—she’s either singing directly to ex-husband Simon Konecki or she is reminding herself to go easy on her.
“My Little Love” is the next song on the album, and it’s sure to leave you in tears. In the song, Adele openly apologizes to her son Angelo for changing his family dynamic when she separated from his father. Listeners will hear voice memos of Angelo talking throughout the track. “Cry Your Heart Out” is a four-minute and fifteen-second long track, and it’s sure a staple in the album. The track is one of the more emotional songs on the album as a ballad. In an interview, the singer revealed that the song is about her divorce.
In the next song, titled “Oh My God,” Adele sings about being happy about yourself and the state of mind following a breakup, or in her case a divorce. It’s different from other Adele songs, and it’s certainly a must-listen song on the album and will get you dancing.
Dancing to an Adele song? It’s possible with this track from her latest album.
After “Oh My God,” the album has seven more tracks, including “Can I Get It,” “I Drink Wine,” an interlude, “Woman Like Me,” “Hold On,” “To Be Loved,” and the album closer: a track called “Love Is A Game.”
“I Drink Wine” has lyrics that reflect Adele’s feelings and healing process. In a press interview with Rolling Stone, the singer said that the song was also about getting rid of one’s egotistical behavior. It’s a standout track on the album, and one that should be listened to if you choose to select one random song to listen to.
Some of the most notable tracks on the album include “Easy On Me,” which was released as the lead single and immediately saw rave reviews and success on the music charts, “I Drink Wine,” and “Oh My God.” These three songs are the ones that seem to be most popular among the rest of the tracklist, and rightfully so.
30 debuted number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and immediately became the biggest-selling album of 2021. This marks her third number one on the chart, and her first since 25 in 2015. It’s one of her better albums vocally, and is recommended for everyone to listen to—even if you’re not an Adele fan.
