With pleas from families across the nation to enact gun control laws, Senator McCarthy directing the House to open an impeachment inquiry against the President, and global struggles plaguing the U.S Government with tough decisions to be made, a recent change in policy overshadows them all. I’m talking about the new dress code policy, of course!
Holding some of the highest positions in the United States is tough work. Being thrown on center stage in front of American citizens, as well as practically the entire world, can also be very scary.
High schoolers all over the nation deal with the horrible implications that a harsh dress code comes with, from embarrassment in classes to after school detentions, but why should our senators- one of the biggest symbols of the United States Government- have to suffer this terrible fate, too? We are all for expressing ourselves, so to any Senators reading, I’ve compiled a list below of clothing items to add to your new, relaxed wardrobe.
Basics
To start any new wardrobe, it’s vital to find the few basic items that could work in almost any ensemble.
A personal favorite of mine are black Lululemon leggings. Their versatility is incredible; you can wear them on a run, to lounge around your house, or with a cute top or sweater.
Another great clothing item for when the weather turns colder, or you want to take a nap in the chamber, is a classic zip-up hoodie. The zip-up hoodie can be found in any color you could possibly imagine.
Zip it up fully and pull on the hood to declare to your fellow senators it’s nap time! Tie the hoodie around your waist to mimic the 2012 Tumblr look, or around your shoulders to look like your grandmother on the golf course!
Developing your own style
Now that you have your basics, it’s time to spice up your outfit, while staying comfortable, of course. Pajama pants give its owner the luxury of staying cozy all day, while coming in endless prints and patterns. For winter, try a snowflake patterned pair. To celebrate St. Patty’s Day, find some with four leaf clovers! The classic plaid is always a hit too, and you can custom the color based on your political party!
To continue on this comfy trend, investing in a pair of Ugg slippers is a must. The original slippers are timeless, and come in many colors. Bonus points if you coordinate with your pj pants! However, for better mobility I would highly recommend the Tasman Ugg shoes. The shoe provides the same level of softness the slippers do, yet would allow a senator to run around and do whatever activities senators must do.
If Uggs aren’t your jam, Crocs would be the shoe to try next. While they look absolutely ridiculous outside of the summertime, many of the things senators do are absurd as well, so it fits the look. Bonus points for those obnoxious fuzzy crocs.
With all these shoe and pant recommendations, it’s about time for me to provide one last, final shirt option. For the grand finale…..Ramen Noodle sweatshirt! You can represent the cheap food that the college system requires its broke students to eat for every meal! Though the most popular sweatshirt is the chicken flavored one, it also comes in pork, beef, and shrimp.
Where to purchase
Senators would never be seen dead in a thrift store, so Amazon or some of the many fast fashion companies in the U.S would be your best bet. Best wishes on your shopping hunt, and maybe with your new comfiness will come some productivity!
