On October 7th 2023, the terrorist group, Hamas, attacked Israel. In retaliation, Israel initiated war against the terrorists of Gaza. The innocent Palestinian people are caught in the crossfire of this war. Through terror, tears, and the death of hundreds, some injured but with many more still missing, the chaos is over. During this time, people search for their families. Some are presumed dead, and others sit to eat a meal they haven’t had in months or drink a single drop of water they haven’t had in days. So the question is, who really won? Truthfully, I believe no one did. Palestinians now face the painful task of rebuilding what’s left. Their homes are gone. Schools, hospitals, mosques, roads, and water pipes have all been destroyed. Life as they knew it was wiped out.
It’s believed to cost around 53 billion dollars to rebuild Gaza. Just to get people back into homes and fix the basics like electricity and water, at least 20 billion is needed in the first few years. Some say it could even cost more than 70 billion to fix everything. And it won’t be quick. Cleaning the rubble could take 10 to 15 years alone. Full recovery, some experts believe, might take longer than 20 years. Especially if aid and building supplies are delayed or blocked. But more than the buildings, the Palestinian people have to rebuild their spirit. The people are tired, hurt, and grieving. They want safety, not just survival. They want peace like it was before the attacks. I believe they deserve to live without fear.
May the days of peace and calm return to Gaza soon. May the children once again be free to laugh, play, and dream without fear or hardship. May families be reunited, and communities rebuilt from the devastation they have endured. I hope that the world will never forget the struggles and the pain experienced in Gaza, for remembering is the first step toward justice and lasting peace. Every life lost and every story of suffering deserves to be honored and acknowledged.
