A reboot for ETV Plus

ETV news runs every day for seven minutes, which may not be enough to cover everything that TV Media students produce.

Starting in November, ETV will have a new series of segments that air on cable TV! That is correct! ETV News Live is getting a cable TV show entitled ETV Plus.  It will appear on channel 19 for Comcast and 38 for Verizon.

ETV news is inviting all students to partake in the fun by including them in the action as well.

Several of these segments include, “In-Depth with Alex Mackle,” a real journalistic piece talking about the impacting news that cannot be covered within ETV. Another is “The Jannette and Robert Show,” featuring Jannette Fisher and Robert Sundstrom. In this segment they will host a debate about important issues facing teens of today. A James Corden-themed show inspired the last segment, “Teacher Carpool Karaoke.” It will feature teachers of Eastern with ETV News correspondents singing along to songs on the radio.

Videos made by students from Mr. Holmes’ TV Media classes will feature on an MTV-style video show. Accompanied by several special guests, the show will be hosted by yours truly, Hayley Bricker, and Jonah Gutterman.

And lastly, a new addition to ETV Plus is a sports segment with a radio flair hosted by ETV sports correspondent Kevin Gillespie and Collin Smith.

However, students do not have to be enrolled in a media class to participate. ETV news is inviting all students to partake in the fun by including them in the action as well.

Eastern students have the opportunity to be featured on and participate in the studio audience of the “The Jannette and Robert Show”, where they can share their opinions and talk about current issues. Some topics of discussion are  prom, and students holding jobs while in high school.

As for “The Loft,” students within the TV Media classes have an opportunity to share creative outlets to a larger audience. The Media I classes’ original music videos will be showcased and the Media II students will have their shot-for-shot music video recreations shown on air.

“ETV Plus is really an awesome opportunity because it is such a free-flowing, creative outlet. It allows you to be as serious or as ridiculous as you want, and I think I take advantage of both of those. It is really just a fun way to learn about film and media, and I’m really grateful I get to be part of it.” said senior Robert Sundstrom.

ETV News Plus hopes to use the new time slot to promote all the talent in the school, in a fun and lively fashion.
