Project Graduation

Project Graduation’s most significant fundraiser throughout the year, the Eastern High School Craft Show, appeared to be successful once again this year. Held on December 2, the all-day event took over the Intermediate High School building – the main lobby, Gym 4, and the cafeteria were all packed, as was the hallway surrounding Gym 4.

Vendors sold what ranged from paintings, to jewelry, to food, to the ever-popular “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” wooden figures. Eastern woodworking teacher, Mr. Bradley, was one of many familiar faces present as a crafter.

Catering the event, Eastern’s Interact club sold concessions in the Viking Café under the guidance of Mr. Tom Biaggio. Although his child already graduated, he has chosen to remain active in the program by helping with concessions.

The Craft Show would not be complete without its famed silent auction, where countless generous individuals have donated over one-hundred baskets to be raffled off. With assistance from other involved parents, this aspect of the Craft Show is headed up by Mrs. Barb Dixon and Mrs. Tami Israel, both parents of seniors who have been involved with Project Gradation for a number of years. Some other areas of management and operation were handled by Mrs. Michele Bonomo and Mrs. Ellen Mackle, also parents of seniors.

The Craft Show brings in a considerable profit, and its twenty-fourth annual incarnation is expected to be no different. Early estimates set profits in step with previous years, surpassing twenty-thousand dollars.
