Birds look to fly high in primetime

This week, the Eagles are set to face the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. The Eagles are entering this game at 1-0, and the Falcons at 0-1.

Going into this game, the Eagles are 2 point favorites and it’s for a good reason. On paper, this Eagles team should have no issue beating the Falcons. In the second half of last week’s game against the Redskins, the Eagles looked dominant, but of course, it raises the question of whether we’ll see the second half Eagles or the sorry excuse for a football team we saw in the first half.

The Falcons, however, are not a bad football team by any stretch of the word. Though they lost 28-12 to the Vikings last week, they had a great showing out of second-year wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who put up 4 receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Against the Vikings, the Falcons allowed a whopping 173 rushing yards, but only 98 passing yards. That’s why I feel this week the Eagles should go to a very run-heavy approach. If you get the ball in the hands of one of our running backs and just let them run, I don’t see the Falcons being able to stop it.

Something the Eagles defense will need to watch out for this week is the Falcons’ passing game. The Falcons offense is loaded with weapons for former MVP Matt Ryan. This includes superstar receiver Julio Jones. Last week, the Eagles gave up 125 yards to rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The Eagles secondary is in for a rude awakening if they play the same lackluster defense they did against the Redskins, against the Falcons this week.
