ELENA ROMERO

Whenever I hear my name out loud, I remember the meaningful memories.

Dear Mom,

My name makes me feel like I have a connection with you.

Who I love the most and I have no shame being named after.

Usually, the oldest daughter takes the name of the mother, but why me? Probably,  it’s because I’m the better daughter.

The funny part of having the same name with you is whenever family comes over and they yell “Elena!”

I always think they are calling me, but then the realization hits that they are looking for you. Now our close family calls me by my middle name Michelle.

Whenever I hear my name out loud, I remember the meaningful memories. And I just remember our close bond. And the meaningful relationship we have.

My name is a part of my identity,  but it was given to me because the bond that a daughter and mother can have when sharing a name is like a beautiful metaphorical melody.
