When you’re in high school, one of the biggest milestones is getting your first job. Some people just want money for things such as shopping, food, or saving for a car. Others want to gain work experience for the future. In South Jersey, there are a lot of cool jobs for teens.
One of the most popular spots for teens to work is Sahara Sams in West Berlin. I work there as an event host, and honestly I love it. I get to host birthday parties and it’s very enjoyable. There’s never a dull moment at work. Sometimes it can be stressful when the kids are misbehaving or things don’t go as planned. You will never be bored at Sahara Sams. There are various jobs available such as lifeguarding, hosting events, cooking, guest services, and park services. So, whether you want to work with kids, deal with food, or clean the park, there’s something for everyone.
Another good option is Diggerland which is also in West Berlin. It’s a construction themed amusement park where guests actually get to drive and ride big machines. Teens usually work as ride operators, and even though it’s a lot of responsibility, it’s super unique compared to other jobs.
Urban Air, an indoor trampoline park, is another fun option. Teens who work there help out with birthday parties, supervise obstacle courses, and make sure kids are safe on trampolines. It’s definitely a high energy job. It’s perfect if you like a fast paced environment.
Besides amusement parks and water parks, South Jersey also has more chill jobs that are suitable for teens. A lot of high schoolers work at Rita’s Water Ice in the spring and summer. It’s a seasonal job, but great for flexible hours and tips. Working at Wawa is another option since they hire a lot of teens and pay well. If you’re down the shore for the summer, places on the boardwalk are always hiring. Selling food, running games, or working in local shops at the beach is a fun way to make money while still enjoying your summer.
In summary, South Jersey has a ton of good options for working teens. Getting a job as a high schooler can help you meet new people. It also teaches you how to be responsible and manage your time. Your first job is a milestone you’ll always remember. The paychecks are nice, but the experience is what matters the most.
