Walter Bowne, Adviser

Since 1999, Walter Bowne has been the adviser of The Voyager. He took over the position from his old journalism teacher, Mr. Sundheimer. While at the Voyager, he enjoyed writing "Wally's Conservative Corner" and his satirical commentaries. Mr. Bowne the Teacher would fail Walter the Student for his lack of "interviewing" skills.

His first, and primary concern as an advisor, is student voice and the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.

The Voyager is not just a "print" newspaper. The Voyager now has a YouTube channel, a Podcast, and an online platform that is updated weekly and sometimes daily.

Mr. Bowne graduated from Eastern in 1987, and attended Rowan, Newcastle-upon-Tyne Polytechnic, and Arcadia, where he earned his Master's in English and Rhetoric. The newspapr has garnered many awards, including Overall Excellence and Distingushed at the Garden State Scholastic Press Association. The newspaper has also won awards, including First Place with Special Merit from the American Scholastic Press Association.

Alumni from The Voyager now work at such places as American Law Magazine, Billboard, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Vanity Fair, The Burlington Times, as well as successful freelance writers, photographers, and graphic designers. Alumni also work across a vast array of media outlets, including TV, film, and public relations.

Mr. Bowne is also a writer. He has been published in over thirty publications. He loves to write humor, first person narratives, essays and articles on education, and has a YouTube channel with over 130 videos.
