Great additions to the field hockey coaching staff

Gianna Perrone, Ms. Marshall, Coach Heck and Heilig look on the field

Kerry Heck, the new JV field hockey coach, attended James Madison College in East Lansing Michigan for Health and PE (Physical Education). This year, 2017, is her 16th year peaching Health and PE at Eastern High School. Before Eastern, Mrs. Heck taught at Woodbury and Northeast Catholic.

She started playing field hockey in ninth grade and has “loved the game” ever since. She played field hockey in high school along with basketball and softball. In college she continued with field hockey and started to play lacrosse.

During college, she started to coach other field hockey teams. “I love the game,” she said, “and I love being able to coach other girls into loving it too.” She started with Merrion Academy. Then to Saint Joseph’s University.

She stopped coaching for schools and moved to field hockey leagues. She coached Futures and rec field hockey. Now, she is the JV coach for Eastern’s field hockey. She took the coaching job because, “It was available and she loved the opportunity to encourage and teach other in the game.”

Gianna Perrone, the new assistant field hockey coach, is an alumnus of Eastern High School. She attended The University of Louisville in Kentucky.

She played field hockey in high school as well as lacrosse. She continued with field hockey in college as a left back.

She started coaching club teams in college, and now that she has graduated she has come back to Eastern to help coach. She said, “I wanted to give back to the program that gave so much to me.”
