The grind begins for the wrestling team

Wrestling is one of the most grueling and intense sports played at Eastern, and being successful as a wrestler requires lots of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Coaches Worthington, Bibbs, and Boland are all preparing the team for an intense campaign throughout the winter.  Practicing over two hours a day, the team’s grind is already in full swing before the first match.  In addition, wrestlers are already beginning to think about weigh-ins, a battle in and of itself.

“In terms of team strengths, we have a lot of returning seniors and varsity guys,” said Jacob Brocious ‘19.  He continued, “We all have to get on the same page in terms of mentality, but we are working on that every day to believe we are the best team in South Jersey.”

The team has high expectations for their performance this season, and time will tell if they have the talent and determination to meet them.  “[I’m looking forward to] trying to win a team championship, because this is my last time on a high school team and my last chance to win a title,” said Ben Sperling ‘19.

Their season began on Wednesday, December 19th, when Camden came to Eastern at 6:00 PM.
